＜ 轉折的一夜 立院的反應 ＞
　　After attending the opening ceremony at Taipei 101 in the morning, President Chen's thoughts turned to DPP personnel matters. After an entire night's worth of secret meetings, top party members have finally agreed on who will be succeeding Chen as DPP Chairman. In reality, the series of meetings began around 2 p.m. on Thursday afternoon at the Presidential Office. Those seen leaving from the meetings refused to comment on any conclusions that had been reached or what was discussed. Kaohsiung City Mayor Frank Hsieh, however, did jokingly say that he and Chen merely exchanged stories on the experiences of being a grandfather. The most dramatic moment came when 蘇貞昌 rushed back from Matsu to meet with Chen. Upon hearing that Yu was not enthusiastic, Su took on the attitude he would do whatever Chen wished, finally bringing an end to this two-week drama over the party chairmanship. The series of meetings showed that Chen is still pulling the strings from behind the scenes. Su will be leading the DPP, while Hsieh will be leading the new Cabinet or taking over the post of Presidential Office Secretary General. It looks like Su and Hsieh will have many opportunities to work together in the future.

　　陳水扁總統一早出席台北一零一大樓啟用剪綵儀式，站在世界最高樓，此刻正是他必須展現最高視野來安排各項黨政人事的心境。而經過昨天一夜的戲劇性密集約訪，終於在敲定民進黨主席人選。事實上，從週四下午兩點開始，陳總統就展開一連串的高層會談，總統府前黑頭車輛密集盡出，政治氣氛緊繃，但與會人員對於會談內容三緘其口，倒是第一個進府的高雄市長謝長廷笑著說，他和陳總統談的其實是『倆個外公經』。最戲劇化的一幕，就是蘇貞昌由馬祖趕回與總統面談。在得知游院長意願不高、而且陳總統連番積極勸進之下，蘇貞昌以『總統要我去哪裡，我義無反顧』，讓這一場延續了倆個禮拜的黨主席接班戲碼，有了令人驚喜的結局。這一連串的約見，呈現陳總統黨政佈局輪廓，也就是，蘇貞昌主持民進黨，謝長廷待命籌組新內閣或接任總統府秘書長。蘇貞昌、謝長廷兩人分庭抗禮的競爭合作局面已經浮上台面。

＜ 組閣民親配 立院國親配 ＞
　　After the election, the PFP made it clear that it would steer its own course. While it would cooperate with the KMT, it would not unite, nor would it rule out cooperation with the DPP on various issues. Now, President Chen has suggested that his second step in personnel arrangements may be forming a cabinet in cooperation with the PFP. The PFP strongly denies these allegations, but the DPP is unwilling to rule out the possibility. Not only is the PFP getting into the Cabinet mix, it is fighting hard for the top posts in the Legislative Yuan as well. Since the election, the PFP is in a position to play a key role, and both the KMT and DPP are working hard to gain their support. In this position, the PFP is keeping its options open and not making any commitments. In this all-out battle for political power, the PFP may just be the biggest winner! In response to public curiosity over whether or not he hoped for the position of Premier, Kaohsiung Mayor Frank Hsieh answered with a big smile, but not many details. He said as far as he knew, the Presidential Office had not reached a decision over this position. In response to questions regarding PFP playing to both sides in forming a Cabinet, Hsieh said James Song probably didn't have that many bargaining chips to offer in forming a DPP-PFP Cabinet.

　　選後親民黨擺明走自己的路，跟國民黨合作不合併，跟民進黨則不排除議題上的合作，如今更傳出，陳總統人事佈局第二步，可能以民親配的方式共同組閣，親民黨強烈否認，但民進黨內認為不無可能！不只組閣分杯羹，親民黨也積極爭取立院龍頭國親配選後親民黨始終扮演關鍵角色，藍綠爭相拉攏，但始終保持進可攻退可守的彈性，讓親民黨在這場權力爭奪戰中，可能是最大的贏家！針對外界好奇謝長廷是否可望接任閣揆，人在高雄的謝長廷笑容滿面，但是態度低調，說就他所知，總統府也還沒有做最後的決定。同時針對親民黨可能在組閣上兩面討好的情況，謝長廷也說，宋楚瑜應該不要以組閣有多少職位作為親民合作的交換條件。

＜ 政黨法角力 橘綠會合作? ＞
　　Although the atmosphere was calm, there was clearly tension underneath the surface as the PFP aided the DPP to get the party assets statute a second reading. The KMT dropped their protests and instead requested further negotiations over the matter. Meanwhile, the pan-green camp was happy but very anxious. The first cooperative effort between the PFP and DPP proved successful. The DPP expressed optimism about working together with the PFP in the future. As for what version of the party assets statute will get a third reading, and what roles the pan-blue and pan-green camps will play, only time will tell.

　　黨產條例逕付二讀的關鍵時刻，民進黨甲級動員，國親二黨人數寥寥可數，氣氛雖然平靜，卻也顯的詭譎，原本強烈反對的國民黨，突然鬆手，不過要求還要協商，綠軍雖然開心，卻也非常憂慮。親民黨首次和民進黨合作，就進行順利，民進黨也對未來橘綠合作，更有信心。至於黨產條例，究竟什麼樣的版本才會三讀通過，藍綠之間的角力，還在暗中較勁。

＜ 今晚要跨年 低溫只五度 ＞
　　One of the most powerful cold fronts this winter has decided to join the party of the New Years Eve. Not only does the temperature in the mountain area went below zero Celsius degree, other regions of Taiwan were having record low temperature. At 淡水, it is measured at 7 degree Celsius which is colder than last morning. Moreover, in Taipei and 新竹 are other cities, the temperature dropped below 10 degree Celsius. The Central Weather Bureau has warned that this kind of weather is going to continue at least for the next two days, people should put on more clothes when they go out. This cold front is going to bring in more cold air that will continue to cool every region of Taiwan non-stop. Not only Keelung, Taipei, 彰化 and 嘉義 will reach 5 degree Celsius, residents in 南 投 will have a chance to taste the almost freezing air of 4 degree Celsius. In addition, southern Taiwan will also have the coldest days of this year. Though the temperature is low, don't think that you would have the chance to see the snow, the possibility of snowing on the mountain area will get lower and lower as the night gets in. The forecast said the chance of having precipitation is very low. If you want to enjoy and get "high" without trembling at the New Years Eve Party outdoor tonight, be prepare to wrap yourself up like an onion!

　　跨年的前夕遇上入冬以來最強的寒流也來湊熱鬧，不只是高山地區低溫跌破零度，連全台灣平地的天氣也是冷到屢屢創紀錄！目前為止淡水氣溫又比早上還要冷，只有7度左右，台北、新竹也紛紛掉到十度以下，這樣的天氣讓氣象局持續發佈低溫特報提醒民眾要注意！強烈的冷空氣持續發威，下午、晚上各地的天氣是越夜越冰冷！不只基隆、台北、彰化、嘉義只有五度，就連南投還有機會下探四度。至於南台灣也是會冷到今年最高峰，不過即使氣溫超低，但民眾想賞雪恐怕是越晚越困難。入夜之後天氣轉乾冷，跨年活動正好遇上超低溫，想要high得不發抖，最好還是要有禦寒準備。

＜ 森林的火災 陸空的演練 ＞
　　When the watchmen noticed the thick smoke that was filling the air, they immediately called for help using their intercoms. But it is difficult for vehicles to reach this mountainous area, and helicopters carrying firefighting personnel are sent to fight the fire from above. As firefighters work to put out the fire from ground-level, the helicopter transports huge quantities of water over from a nearby river in a further attempt to put out the fire. In order to shorten the time it takes the helicopter to fly between the river and the scene of the fire, a firefighting train opens up its water bags to provide an additional source of water for the helicopters. The four helicopters hover over the fire, pouring down water from above. Over the course of this realistic forest fire drill conducted by the Forestry Bureau, the effectiveness of the Bureau's forest fire squad could clearly be seen.

　　林班地冒煙起火，巡山員發現後，馬上以對講機通報滅火。不過山勢陡峭，人車無法到達，只好出動直昇機搭載人員，直接深入起火點執行吊掛救災。支援人力從地面開闢防火巷，同時直昇機也從大甲溪取水，展開空中投水灌救。直昇機帶來十倍的水量加入投水滅火行列。為了節省飛機來回大甲溪取水的時間，消防水車就近設置開放式水袋，供應水源，讓直昇機方便取水。經過四架直昇機吊掛水帶，不斷在起火點上空來回灌救，延燒五十公頃的森林火警很快就被撲滅，林務局逼真的演練過程，展現了森林火災動員救災的效率。
