Dressed in black from head to toe, a New Party legislator hopeful was the first person in a long line to pay his respects to the founding father of the Republic of China. Reading a text about his disappointment in the ruling party, New Party heavyweight 陳癸淼 teared up. But before he had time to gain control of his emotions, the next group of people arrived. Taipei City Mayor 馬英九 brought six legislative candidates who paid their respects in a sea of flags. One candidate put his own picture together with Sun Yat-sen's. When asked about the history textbook debate, Ma was visibly angry. With a variety of events happening at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial on Friday, things
never quieted down as protesters pelted pictures of 杜正勝 and 林玉体 with eggs. What should have been a solemn occasion became a campaign tool, and one can only wonder what the father of the nation is thinking in heaven as he watches the events below.

The DPP Secretary-General and the party's legislative caucus leader 蔡煌 瑯 both attended the release of DPP's goals in the legislature. The party announced that if it wins majority in the legislative election, it will pursue a total of 10 objectives to bring new hope to the island of Taiwan.
The objectives include auditing assets of the KMT, reducing the period of military service by half, cutting down the number of elections by half, among others. On the 11th, Chen Shui-bian personally appointed 張俊雄 as President of the Legislative Yuan, launching the battle for the position. Chang was outraged by incumbent 王金平 's charge that he contended for the rank in inappropriate manners. While legislative candidates vie for seats, the head of the legislature is no less coveted by officials.

How would 洪顥瑄 react if she won the Golden Horse Best Newcomer Award? The 18-year old's reaction isn't fake at all. Her personality was one of the reasons the director of the film cast her in 擁抱大白熊. In the film, Hong plays the role of a difficult teenager, and is often in conflict with a 10-year old boy.
In real life, Hong has a seven year old brother, and perhaps because of it, she took to her role naturally. Hong laughingly admits that she looks like a female version of 趙自強, and says that she is never recognized at school. In her first ever role, Hong did everything that was asked of her, including cutting her hair. She says that her participation in the film gave her many experiences she'd never had before, and would seriously consider acting as a career.

The upbeat melody and simple lyrics sing of the love for Taiwan. This is the theme song of the Hand in Hand Organization's national title movement. The limerick-like tune is easy to catch on to. It is hoped that the song will attract new friends to join in next year's lighting event on February 28th. While the theme song is inviting, the event ID gives a message that is equally friendly and approachable. The symbol is a colorful windmill of 6 different colors, to represent harmony among the many cultures and ethnicities of Taiwan. Hand in Hand will soon be establishing a campaign support group to tour Taiwan and rally for the 66 legislative candidates signed with the
organization.

＜ 法務部擬購 電子手腳銬 ＞
The Ministry of Justice is soon planning on using a surveillance system on the sexual harasser of the pocketknife that women are afraid off. Using electronic bracelets and ankle bracelets, prisoners on parole are always being monitored by computers when they walk around during both day and night times, in order to prevent them from committing sexual offense again. This parolee surveillance system is still in its experimental stages in Britain and the U.S. Therefore, the decision of the Ministry of Justice to proceed to official usage is causing concerns from the Judicial Reform Foundation.
The Judicial Reform Foundation thinks that the reason for using this new surveillance system is because the Ministry of Justice lacks confidence in their behavior correction system and loose standards of period on parole for prisoners. Even though the surveillance system is still in its developmental stages, the actual efficiency of electronic surveillance is yet to be determined.

司改會認為，法務部對自己矯正以及觀護制度沒有信心，假釋的標準太過寬鬆，才要引用這套制度來圍堵。雖然還在研擬的階段，電子監控對假釋犯的成效，還有待觀察。

The courtyard fountain of Panchiao District Court recently underwent renovations. Its painting was refurbished and the muddy water gave way to a source for clean, clear water. Judges at the court revealed the changes were made according to the rules of fengshui. This is a picture of how the fountain looked before renovations. The spout was covered with moss. A far cry from its refreshing looks now. This year alone, three judges from this courthouse were diagnosed with cancer. Some believe it was the poor fengshui of this fountain that worked as a negative influence on health. Although there may be no correlation between the two, the courthouse says it chose to act on the recommendation of the science to put fears at ease. After all, the Chinese say about superstitions: It is better to acknowledge its existence than to deny it outright. The irony is not escaped, however, that an institution based on evidence is susceptible to folk beliefs.

最近板橋地方法院悄悄翻修中庭的噴水池，重新漆上了油漆讓他再度噴水，混濁的池水，經過整理也變得清澈見底，法官私下表示這都是為了改風水這張照片是在整修以前拍下的，噴嘴已經長滿了雜草，和現在相比，整修過後的噴水池果然清爽多了，因為今年陸續有工友三位法官得到癌症，有人就認為是噴水池造成風水出了問題，影響了健康，是不是真的有關連，板橋地方法院庭長說，只是為了求心安中國人總是說寧可信其有，不可信其無！不過法院是講求證據的地方，現在既然相信這種風水之說，好像有點說不過去

＜ 中國的戰機 三次逼台灣 ＞
The skies above the Taiwan Strait has never seen such intensity in the number of fighter jets from the Mainland as it did in the last two months. The jets even came as close as to crossing the middle border once! Military sources indicate that since the second half of September this year, Chinese fighter jets have circled the premises at least 3 times. Once, over 30 jets were seen in a day - creating the highest record ever. The aircrafts are all newest models developed by the Mainland, including Su-kai 27, Su-kai 30, the J-8, and even yet-to-be exposed J-10! The Chinese air fighters crossed the border and immediately returned, showing little sign of provocation. But this route is seen to be a possible war routine of the People's Liberation Army. A review of the history of the Taiwan Strait skies: prior to 1997, Taiwan's air force was still quite active. Any sign of Chinese aircrafts was seen as provoking. Since 1998, however, Chinese air fighters have appeared in large numbers, averaging 1200 a year. The Air Force in Taiwan has kept close vigil. As to whether the high frequency of Chinese jets crossing the border would intensify China-Taiwan relations, the Ministry of Defense declined to comment.

Once was on September 27th when President Chen was on the way to Pong Hu. 28 China's military aircrafts were seen in the sky, attempted to cross over Taiwan Strait. As a result, President arrived at the destination 15 minutes later than scheduled time. Later on October 2nd, when Vice President Lu was also on her way to Pong Hu, 4 China's military aircrafts tried to get close to Taiwan Strait again. It seriously interrupted Vice President's arrival time and as a result she was 20 minutes late to destination. Though they both landed safely and their face showed no signs of fright, but the truth is the relations between the two countries is very much in danger. Whether China's military aircrafts were really aiming on Taiwan leaders' planes, Presidential Office Secretary Su Tseng-Chang denied in low key. However, both Presidential Office and Executive Yuan wish Ministry of National Defense should explain this matter to the public.

At the office, regardless of man or woman, every employee is busy with work. The workload and nature of the job are similar. But are salaries the same, too? A human resources company conducted a survey and found that although the Equal Protection Employment Act has been implemented for 2 years, discrepancies between men and women's salaries still commonly exist. The average salary for men is 34,500 NT, while women's is only 26,000 NT. With similar educational backgrounds, men generally earn more than women. But the research found that level of education is the factor most directly related to remuneration. With the number of universities increasing, the average earning of a university graduate is only 30,000 NT. Those with a Master's Degree earn an average of 46,000 NT; a Ph.D. would earn the employee 70-80,000 NT. A surprise finding was that junior high school graduates earned an average of 36,000 - more than that of university graduates. It seems that a college degree is a basic requisite to enter the job market. And if you do not have the time to pursue a higher level of education yet, and salaries retain its status quo, the only thing to do may be to just cinch your belt and make do!

For a decade, "surfing" has come to mean browsing the net rather than riding ocean waves on a plank.
But a surfboard has now been developed that lets surfers surf while surfing. The prototype board has been built by Devon "shaper" Jools Matthews.
It houses a laptop, solar panels, and video camera, and is to launch at the Intel GoldCoast Oceanfest on 18 June.
The world's first wi-fi board uses a high-speed net connection point - hotspot - positioned on the beach.
Chip makers Intel has commissioned the unusual surfboard as part of the free sports and music festival in North Devon to show off how technology can be brought to the sea and sand.
The board will have its maiden outing on the waves when it is used by international pro surfer Duncan Scott at the event.
Ride with the best
"As a professional surfer, explorer, writer, film producer and world traveller, being able to communicate quickly and effectively is critical to my success," said Mr Scott, who also advised on the board's design.
The board is a prototype to show off technology"In the near future," he added, "via wireless real-time streaming, it could be possible that observers will, for the first time, actually be able to 'ride' a wave with the best surfers in the world."
The board itself is 9ft 4 inch long board, ideally suited to the particular waves found along the UK's "Surfers' Paradise" in North Devon.
The technology, supplied by Intel, is tucked away neatly in the board, inside a specially designed waterproof casing.
The casing is made of a tough but lightweight tray, and has a silicone seal, a crystal PVC cover and an aluminium gasket.
The tablet laptop has a wireless chip, a 1.7Ghz processor and a 80Gb hard drive.
Power comes from the solar panels fitted onto the board, and it also has a video camera which can store 64Mb worth of wave-catching action.
Serious side
But even though it is all a bit of fun, serious efforts have been made to ensure the technology did not interfere with the ride and feel of the board, said Intel.
The laptop weighs in at 2.3kg and its position in the board was careful calculated to maintain the desired balance for surfers.
"It's all about giving people the freedom to get online when and where they want - and this technology demonstrates that with a bit of imagination you can do just that," said Tim Hatch, Intel's consumer marketing manager.
The GoldCoast Oceanfest takes place from 18 to 20 June at Croyde beach in North Devon.

emphasized that they are very determined to push the Arm Purchasing Plan. A survey conducted by them showed that 46% of the citizens being asked said they support weapons purchasing plan and 40% of the citizens are against it. However, if the budget can cut to 500 billion nt, supportive citizens would increase to 54%. On top of that, 70% of the citizens want the weapon purchase plan to be validated in Legislative Yuan. Regarding to public saying that the budget plan is too much, Ministry of National Defense answered that they didn't try to add up the numbers purposely. There was a confusion between the real figure and the figure reported by the U.S. Whether the budget plan can be validated by Legislative Yuan, we'll have to wait until the next Legislative assembly.

After the 6.7 magnitude earthquake hit late Monday night, the seismological meter at Central Weather Bureau detected nearly 20 more quakes of different magnitudes. One of them measured up to 5.3 on the Richter scale! Fortunately, the epicenter was in the outer seas, with only Yilan experiencing a heavy quake. The major quake, which took place at midnight, occurred in the seas off of Hualien. Its depth only reached 10 meters, with the largest vibration in Yilan, which measured a 4. In Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu and Miaoli, earthquakes measured a 3. ON the island, two thirds of the vibrations went on for as long as one minute. Residents were apprehensive about the quakes' possible relation to the Nigata quakes in Japan.

A security camera at the intersection of 汐止 Road and 大 同 Road captured footage of the fierce swaying that began at 11:54 p.m. on Monday night. The earthquake lasted for nearly a minute, causing many people to race out of their homes in a panic. Meanwhile, at the 饒和 night market, shoppers were frightened by the sudden onset of the earthquake. Even those who were walking when the earthquake occurred felt the movement. The earthquake also frightened people at the night market in Ilan city, where the earthquake measured 4 on the intensity scale. As woks swayed, oil spilled over the edges of the wok, causing a flurry of movement among stand owners. People were also concerned over whether the bridge would collapse. 時間深夜十一點五時四分，地點就在汐止大同路口，透過監視器，可以看到一陣劇烈搖晃持續了將近一分鐘，不少民眾感受到天搖地晃，趕緊從家門逃出來，探頭觀望看看，到底發生什麼事了同樣的時間，地點換到饒和夜市，每天到十一、二點，仍然人潮不退，攤販，逛街的民眾還是不少，但是突然的地震，讓大家都嚇壞了，就算有些人邊走， 還是感受到了另外也是在夜市，震度有四級的宜蘭市區東港陸橋下夜市可以看到油鍋一陣搖晃，油自鍋溢出來，攤販趕緊處理善後相當緊張，擔心陸橋會不會崩塌，而在夜市這家寵物店，有民眾發現門口花圃有一條長度四十公分的蛇，到處遊蕩，外觀很像毒蛇雨傘節，發現民住趕緊把牠抓起來，還好，這起地震，沒有傳出重大災情，歷經一場虛驚。
